On the TV

Best for: Bars, parties, game nights and anywhere a group shares a screen.
Start at witsquad.com/host/new →
  1. 1
Open witsquad.com/host/new on a TV, projector or laptop. That screen is the host. It shows the room code, the questions and the scores.
  2. 2
Everyone scans the QR code with their phone camera, or types the 4-letter code at witsquad.com. Pick a nickname.
  3. 3
Form squads of 2 to 4. Start one and tap Send your squad the link: your friends land straight in it. Or tap a squad that's already up. Mix it up on the host screen deals everyone into even squads. Show squad flare lights your phone in your squad's color so you can find each other.
  4. 4
Press Start. The question appears on the big screen. Talk it over during the 3-second huddle, then everyone taps an answer on their own phone within 15 seconds.
  5. 5
The game runs itself: answers, reveal, standings, next question. After 10 questions the podium names the winning squad. Run it back starts a rematch with the same squads.
  • Phones show only the answer buttons, so heads stay up and the room argues out loud.
  • Turn on Turbo in the lobby for a faster game: 8 seconds per answer, about 3 minutes.
  • Hosting from a phone works, but the game is built for a big screen everyone can see.
  • Up to 60 players can join one room.

Versus

Best for: Settling who's smarter: you against one friend, or a whole group chat.
Start at witsquad.com/versus →
  1. 1
Open witsquad.com/versus, pick a nickname and start a room. Your phone runs the game and plays too.
  2. 2
Send the invite link. Friends tap it and pick a nickname. No squads to pick: everyone plays for themselves.
  3. 3
Press Start once someone has joined. Turbo is on by default: 8 seconds per answer.
  4. 4
The same question shows on every phone at the same moment. A right answer scores more the faster you tap. Every phone shows the standings between questions.
  5. 5
After 10 questions you get a winner, the margin, and who was fastest. Share it, then Run it back: rematches keep a running score.
  • Just finished the Daily? Challenge a friend live from your finish screen.
  • Versus games stay off the public leaderboards.

Remote squads

Best for: Squads who can't be in the same room.
Start at witsquad.com/remote →
  1. 1
One person opens witsquad.com/remote, picks a nickname and opens a room. Their phone runs the game and plays too.
  2. 2
Send the invite link from the lobby. Friends tap it and pick a nickname. There's no code to type.
  3. 3
Squad up in twos to fours, the same as in a room. Start a squad and send its link, and your friends land straight in it. The host phone can turn on Turbo or Mix it up, then presses Start.
  4. 4
The question and answers show on every phone. Get on a phone or video call so your squad can huddle.
  5. 5
Every phone shows the standings between questions. Remote games have their own Remote leaderboard.
  • The host phone has Run it back at the end for a rematch.
  • Keep the call going: the huddle is the best part.

The Daily

Best for: A quick game on your own, and bragging rights.
Start at witsquad.com/daily →
  1. 1
Open witsquad.com/daily. Everyone gets the same 10 questions today, in the same order.
  2. 2
You get 3 seconds to read each question, then 8 to answer. Lock in and the answer shows 2 seconds later. Three bot squads play along for company.
  3. 3
Your first finish of the day is your ranked run. It goes on the Daily board at witsquad.com/leaderboard/daily. Play again if you like: later runs are practice.
  4. 4
Share your card. A friend who opens your link gets the same day's questions and a score to beat.
  5. 5
A new Daily goes live every night at 07:00 UTC (3 AM Eastern, 2 AM in winter). Play on back-to-back days to build a streak.
  • The All time board counts Daily wins, top-3 finishes and perfect 10/10 days. A win counts only on days with 3 or more players.
  • Wish your local bar ran WitSquad? Ask for it from your Daily finish screen.

Practice against the bots

Best for: Warming up, or a game any time on your own.
Start at witsquad.com/solo →
  1. 1
Open witsquad.com/solo and tap Or warm up against random bots.
  2. 2
You're a squad of one against three bot squads. Like real people, some bots answer fast and some get it wrong.
  3. 3
The question shows on your phone. Flip on Turbo for 8-second answers.
  4. 4
Scoring and the share card work just like a real game. Good runs show on the Solo board.

Scoring

Speed, the double final and the dark board count in every mode. The squad rules don't apply in Versus, where everyone plays for themselves.

  • Speed counts
A right answer is worth 1,000 points the instant answering opens, sliding to 500 at the buzzer. A wrong answer or no answer scores 0.
  • Agree before you tap
A squad scores the average of its members, so a split vote costs points.
  • All In
When every member of a squad of 2 or more gets a question right, that question pays ×1.5.
  • The final pays double
Question 10 is worth twice as much, so a late comeback is real.
  • The board goes dark
Standings hide after question 8. Nobody knows who won until the podium.

Your own questions

Write a question pack at witsquad.com/host/packs: inside jokes, your bar, your town. No account needed. The pack lives in your browser, and its edit link moves it to another device.

Play a pack on its own (it needs 10 or more questions) or mix up to 5 of yours in with ours. Games with your own questions stay off the public leaderboard.

Leaderboards

witsquad.com/leaderboard opens on the Daily board for today. Your phone always sees its own rank there, even outside the top 10.

The Today and All time tabs show the best squads and solo runs, with in-room and Remote games kept apart.

Good to know

  • All you share is a nickname and the answers you tap. Rooms are deleted after 7 days. Share cards stay up.
  • Dropped out or refreshed? Open the same link on the same phone and you're back as yourself.
